The Portfolio Investing team’s focus is to identify and support a portfolio of organizations demonstrating outstanding performance in four key areas: impact, equity and proximity, leadership, and sustainability. Our role is to identify the most promising social entrepreneurs and organizations for investment, ensure that we are providing them with excellent capacity building support, and develop and continually refine a set of tools and processes that support our grantees and the portfolio team in capturing their progress and our value add. 

POSITION DESCRIPTION
This position will be a key member of the education team, and will focus on a range of critical activities related to event management, parent power, and investment selection. The associate/senior associate will serve as the event manager for the Widespread Impact Community of Practice, which is part of our Equitable Education Recovery Initiative. Through the Widespread Impact Community of Practice, we will support larger organizations to enact widespread impact strategies through which they are attempting to support the broad adoption of evidence-based effective practices through tools, training and/or technical assistance. The associate/senior associate will also provide support on the Education team’s work to lift up and center the voices of parents in our work, and will also serve on diligence teams to assess pipeline organizations for potential fit within our portfolio. The associate/senior associate reports to New Profit Managing Partner Shruti Sehra.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Event Management for Widespread Impact Community of Practice (50%)
    • Manage event logistics and material creation for virtual and in-person convenings of the Widespread Impact Community of Practice
    • Research potential locations and work with event coordinator to secure logistics for the event (catering, hotel blocks, tech, etc.)
    • Support design of programming Widespread Impact Community of Practice
  • Support Parent Power Work (25%)
    • Help execute the vision of the Education team’s parent power work
    • Provide leverage as needed to Partner (or equivalent) in our parent power work
  • Support Investment Selection (25%)
    • Serve as a #2 on ongoing education diligence teams, supporting Partner (or equivalent) in the process of getting to know prospective portfolio organizations and assessing the mutual benefit of a potential partnership
    • Respond to inbound requests for data and analysis from New Profit team members across the organization related to individual and collective portfolio performance and New Profit supports and value add

 

WHO YOU ARE

  • You’re an adept project manager capable of driving multifaceted workstreams toward deadlines and juggling changing priorities
  • You have sharp analytical skills that allow you to quickly assess situations, identify trends, develop insights and solutions, and apply learnings to a larger context
  • You’re a strong communicator, able to convey ideas in a clear, compelling, and concise manner, both verbally, and in writing, and in slides.
  • You consistently deliver high-quality work and have a keen eye for details
  • You show up with a high level of interpersonal maturity and poise
  • You are able to learn and grow from mistakes and have the desire to constantly improve
  • You’re very comfortable using Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • You know why and how you're committed to New Profit’s mission, social entrepreneurship, and social change

STARTING SALARY: $62,500
