Associate Partner, Catalyze

Boston, MA
Full Time

New Profit is a venture philanthropy organization that backs social entrepreneurs who are advancing equity and opportunity in America.  New Profit exists to build a bridge between these leaders and a community of philanthropists who are committed to catalyzing their impact.  New Profit provides unrestricted grants and strategic support to a portfolio of organizations led by visionary social entrepreneurs to increase their impact, scale, and sustainability.  It also partners with social entrepreneurs and other cross-sector leaders to shift how government and philanthropy pursue social change to ensure that all people can thrive.  Since it founding in 1998, New Profit has invested $325+ million in more than 165 early-and later-stage social enterprises.  Learn more about New Profit here.

In 2014, we created New Profit’s Catalyze Investments to address the significant lack of investment in organizations with leaders and focus areas that have historically been underinvested in, such as democracy reform and criminal justice. Through Catalyze Investments, we identify and invest in high potential early-stage organizations led by diverse social entrepreneurs working in historically underinvested areas. We also build organizations’ capacity to accelerate their growth and transition to mid-stage organizations. To date, we have supported 88 organizations across over 10 cohorts and have deployed $6M+ in direct investments.

New Profit stands shoulder-to-shoulder with social entrepreneurs in support of their vision, with a specific focus on helping them build the capacity of their organizations in four areas: 1) Impact 2) Equity & Proximity, 3) Adaptive Leadership, and 4) Sustainability.

Catalyze Investments offers a synergistic support model to work with and towards the needs of each organization, creating value across several dimensions. This includes a peer learning community in each cohort, 1:1 personal coaching for the social entrepreneur, consultations with external content experts, and New Profit’s tested capacity building framework and tools, as well as $100,000 in unrestricted support.

Catalyze investments sits alongside Build Investments. Through our Build Investments, New Profit provides grantee-partners a $1M+ multi-year, unrestricted grant and deep advisory support. A dedicated New Profit Deal Partner serves as a trusted advisor to the social entrepreneur and as a member of the organization’s board of directors. Our support is geared towards building the leadership capacity of social entrepreneurs, boards, and senior teams and their ability to make strategic choices as they navigate change and growth.
