NEW PROFIT SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
New Profit encourages you to consider an internship with us if you are interested in contributing to and learning about the inner workings of an innovative, equity-centered, national venture philanthropy organization. We have loved the influence, support, and energy of our interns over the years and are excited to select and welcome another cohort! Our internships are placed in various parts of our organization, but each opportunity offers exposure to an aspect of program, external affairs, or operational management to help you develop skills, knowledge, and relationships that ideally aid your career path. Our summer internship program will be approximately 15 hours per week and will go from June 3rd to August 30th. Each selected participants salary will be based on experience and it is non-negotiable. Hourly wages start at $19.31. We hope you apply!
POSITION DESCRIPTION
At New Profit, we see communications as a driver of impact. Our Communications team elevates the work of our Social Entrepreneurs and New Profit colleagues to educate and inform our stakeholders (investors, current and prospective social entrepreneurs, current and prospective staff, and the general public).
As a Summer Intern on the Communications team, you will assist with various aspects of digital content creation and management for New Profit’s social media platforms and communication channels. Responsibilities include drafting engaging social media posts, creating captivating graphics, and supporting promotional activities for our podcast “Say More with Tulaine Montgomery.” This role requires strong writing skills, creativity, attention to detail, and social media proficiency.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Help draft social media posts for New Profit’s social media accounts.
- Writing captions
- Creating graphics
- Assist in executing promotional plans for our podcast, Say More with Tulaine Montgomery.
- Drafting social media ads
- Creating quote graphics for social media
- Support content gathering and creation of key internal and external communications resources including the New Profit newsletter, NPGo blog, and thematic one-pagers.
- Provide content ideation and input on and support the execution of our digital communications strategy.
- Assist with updating the Investor Dashboard and New Profit’s media platform, NPGo, including refreshing homepage content, publishing new blogs and articles, elevating high-performing content and resources.

- Adding related articles to older posts
- Subject tagging to add cohesion
- Meta descriptions
- Video/Photo Database management
- Content Collection: Gathering and organizing existing photo and video assets from various sources within the organization.
- Database Maintenance: Uploading, categorizing, and tagging multimedia content using designated software or platforms.
- Quality Assurance ensures the accuracy, consistency, and quality of the metadata associated with each photo/video entry.
- User Training: Providing basic training to staff members on accessing and utilizing the database effectively.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Someone who is interested or studying communications, marketing, journalism, or English
- Detail orientation, research and organizing skills
- Experience with Excel and Powerpoint
- Written and oral communication skills
- Experience with Wordpress, HubSpot, and Canva are preferable but not required
- Mission-oriented. You care about creating impact and are passionate about New Profit’s vision, mission, and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Curiosity and willingness to learn
- Available to work 15 hours per week between June 3rd to August 30 (Note - New Profit will be closed for our Summer Rejuvenation Break July 1 - July 10, 2024, so there will be no work during that time)
