TEAM  OVERVIEW - COMMUNICATIONS
The New Profit Communications Team helps to drive impact and advance New Profit’s mission by developing and disseminating content that highlights our portfolio and our field building work. We support the enterprise’s strategic priorities by elevating  the stories of our grantees, advancing ideas and insights to drive the philanthropic and social impact sectors forward, and ensuring our initiatives, programs, and related efforts all align under a cohesive enterprise brand. 

POSITION OVERVIEW
New Profit is looking for a passionate and purpose-driven communicator, strategic and creative thinker, and a highly organized Manager to join the organization's Communications Team. The Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, and measurement of campaigns and projects that drive outcomes against enterprise and initiative objectives.

This role is ideal for a highly organized marketing and/or communications professional who (1) thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment while balancing multiple priorities; (2) can think strategically and work with a focus on daily outcomes, (3) has a demonstrated commitment to New Profit’s mission; and (4) thinks strategically while navigating ambiguity. This position will report to the Associate Partner of Communications.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Writing & Editorial: The Manager is responsible for several key reports and communications products.

  • Draft content for the Annual Report and Quarterly Impact Reports; work in partnership with our creative agency to design and update the print and digital versions.
  • Working with issue area teams and utilizing New Profit’s brand guidelines, write, edit, and design reports that lift up learnings from our work for the broader social impact sector.
  • Support investment announcements.
  • Tell the stories of our grantees in various formats
  • Serve as a cross-team collaborator and internal brand steward, helping translate organizational priorities into compelling internal communications and ensuring alignment across departments.

Conferences & Media

  • Working closely with the Field Building team, track where New Profit staff are in the field and find ways to elevate learnings from the field back to New Profit and from New Profit out into the field.
  • Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders to support media engagement, including internal teams, external PR partners (like McPherson Strategies), and philanthropic partners, ensuring aligned messaging and brand cohesion.
  • Develop speaker briefs, review talking points, and join related prep calls.
  • Track and manage promo requests and conference pitch processes. 

Say More with Tulaine Montgomery

  • Lead project management for the podcast in collaboration with New Profit’s Executive Office and external production agency. 
  • Review all briefs, scripts, voiceovers, and final edits for messaging alignment.
  • Continue to grow audience reach and resonance, including finding ways to repurpose content and conversations. 

Event Communications Support

  • In collaboration with the Field Building team, ensure New Profit-produced events—including our biannual gathering, The Well—align with branding, messaging, and budget for creative assets. 
  • Coordinate with photographers, videographers, and related vendors to guide the content capture and creation of event materials. 
  • Support the creation, project management, and dissemination of event communication campaigns.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities

  • As part of a small and collaborative team, the Manager may occasionally take on additional responsibilities outside the core scope of this role. We’re looking for someone who is adaptable, proactive, and excited to contribute in a dynamic environment.
  • The ideal candidate will bring an intrapreneurial mindset, finding opportunities and taking initiative to improve on existing systems and recurring processes.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5-8 years of demonstrated experience, success, and increasing responsibility in communications or marketing, preferably in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, or nonprofit environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • A demonstrated commitment to New Profit’s mission. 
  • Familiarity with Hubspot (or similar CRM), Canva, Adobe products, and the Google suite. 
  • Familiarity with Asana or similar project management tools. 
  • Experience with video editing and event management software is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience writing for funder or donor audiences is a strong plus.
  • Interest in or experience experimenting with AI tools for content creation, project management, or workflow optimization is a plus, but not required.

SALARY
The salary range for the Manager position will be $97,050 - $107,203 annually, with the exact salary depending on prior work experience and the assessment of one's fit for the role. Additionally, New Profit provides a suite of competitive benefits including health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, retirement benefits, and a generous PTO policy with an end-of-year holiday break.
